Jean Glenn creates stunning custom stationary and gift tags. When she moved to Minneapolis, Jean received a flyer in the mail for a fair at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts. “I went and watched a woman operate a small tabletop iron letterpress; interchanging lead type to print people’s initials. I was mesmerized,” says Jean. Letterpress involved three things she loved: design, math and paper. “I was in a new city without a job and pregnant with my first child. Without knowing what kind of investment was needed, I thought it could be a fulfilling way to work from home and raise our kids, too. I sat with the yellow pages and a notebook and called every listing under “printers.” Jean started meeting people who helped her acquire all the supplies she needed to start her business. She began printing and awareness grew. Now, Pomegranate Press ships cards to far-away countries.
